MAILING COVER FOR A SEARS, ROEBUCK AND CO. CATALOG, 1928
Color: Black; White
A mailing cover for a Sears, Roebuck and Company catalog for Spring and Summer 1928. The cover is one sheet glued together to fit over the catalog and has a map of the United States with indicators of eleven stores throughout the country. Next to the map, on the left, is a shield within which is a statement about the company's 11,000,000 customers. Above the map, to the right, is the company name and the words "World's Largest Store." To the left are the letters "M/ N" which are repeated in two other places. Below the map is an image of the new 12-story store in Minneapolis with the company name below the image. The third section has a pink address label pasted onto it with a two-cent stamp cancelled with a stamp from Minneapolis. The addressee was Tobias Enkenhus of Cottonwood, Minn. To the left of the label is a message to the postmaster about returning undelivered catalogs. Below this is a statement, "24 House / Service / As / Dependable / as the / Sunrise" in a border and with an image of the sunrising over the roof of a house surrounded by trees. With many tears, creases, surface soiling and discoloration, the artifact is in fair condition.
