Object Name Robes
Description Color: White
A woman's funeral robe, ca. 1930. The white rayon garment is fittedwith a butterfly collar extending low on the front with machine-made lace trim at the collar and at the end of the wide sleeves. A 1" wide gusset is on the inside seam of the left sleeve. At the waist is a belt with two ties, on one the front and the other at the back to allow for different sized persons and a taffeta rosette is on the belt at the front. According to a blue and silver foil tag which was with the object, but not made available in the accession, the dress was manufactured by Lynch Funeral Supply Company. Drycleaned by the seller before purchased by the museum, the artifact has three small spots, possibly rust at the front left (as you face the artifact, a few inches below the belt, but is otherwise in good condition.
