ORDER ENVELOPE FROM A SEARS, ROEBUCK AND CO. CATALOG, 1928
Color: Green; White
An order envelope from a Sears, Roebuck and Company catalog for Spring and Summer 1928. On the left side of the front is the return address portion, set at a different angle than the rest of the envelope and with spaces for name, postoffice, state, rural route, box number, and street address. A two-line border at the ends of this section sets it apart from the address to the company, which has the city and state at the top and the company name, with the motto "The World's Largest Store", underneath. A box with the words "Place / 2 Cent / Stamp / Here / M.N.E.9438" is at the top right. On the reverse flap is the statement "In Less Than a Day / Your Order's on Its Way" with images of a train, clock, and mailcar underneath and the words "24 Hour / Service" and "Near-By / Stores" alongside the images. At the lower part of the back are images of a man scratching his head and an upraised finger with a string tied around it and the words "Lest / You / Forget." Under this is a statement about completing the order completely before sealing the envelope. Because of age and pressure, most of the flap is sealed to the envelope, though it has not been used. Aside from minor creasing and discoloration, the object is in good condition.
