"GROWERS' SALES COMPANY BARGAIN BOOK, AUTUMN 1927"
Color: Red; White
A 46-page bargain plant catalog issued by Growers' Sales Company, 1927. The white-colored front cover has a fluted column border with floral designs at the centers and corners. Within the border, at the top in red letters, are the words "BARGAIN BOOK / AUTUMN 1927." Below is an illustration, tinted red, of a bunch of flowers, while the company name and headquarters are toward the bottom. The back cover has a listing for tulips. On the inside front cover is another tulip listing and more of these follow on subsequent pages, followed by other types of flowers, bushes, shrubs, evergreens and other plants. The centerfold and surrounding pages feature roses, while vines, hedge plants, fruits, ornamental and shade trees, a few books, and seed, food, insecticides, and manure are other listing items. At the back is a discussion of bargain offerings, including terms of sale, with a listing for tulips underneath. The last two pages is an order blank with lines for date of purchase; purchaser's name; address; nearest express office; amount of order with a preprinted 15 cent postage and packing charge; total remittance; and columns for quantity, name of article, and price along with a total box at the bottom right of both sides. Product listings include brief descriptions, quantity by each and quantity and, in many cases, photographs. Listings are generally the same as those in item 2.1 and 2.2. A pencil inscription on the front cover, right side is an address "215 East Cottage place." In fair condition, the item has foxing, discoloration, creases, and some surface soiling on the cover with the lower right corner bent on the whole document.
