PORTION OF THE BOSTON TRAVELER NEWSPAPER, 27 OCTOBER 1928
Color: Black; White
A portion of the Boston Traveler newspaper, 27 October 1928 issue. The fragment is from the rotogravure section and includes on the first page, at the top, the title, date and issue price. This is superimposed over a photograph of a crowd in a stadium and, under the title, are variously sized photographs of college football players from Harvard and Dartmouth, whose game was that day. Names and field positions of the players accompany their images. On the inner two pages are photographs and short captions for a variety of news stories from celebrity weddings to fashions to new furnishings and traffic policemen in various countries. On the back page is a full-length advertisement from Paine's, presumably a furniture store, because there are four photographs showing furniture in room settings with prices. At the top of pages two through four is the newspaper title, issue date and indication that this came from the rotogravure section. The paper has a horizontal half-fold made in manufacture and a horizontal half-fold made afterward. The horizontal fold is fragile and has torn in a few places. With these tears, some creases, discoloration of the paper and overall fragility, the artifact is in poor condition and should not be handled, but with great caution.
